UFCW Local 1000 endorses Lydia Bean

Lydia Bean earns the first labor endorsement of the TX-06 Special Election

ARLINGTON, TX - Today the United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) Local 1000 endorsed Lydia Bean, a small business owner and Democratic candidate in Texas’ 6th Congressional District.

“Our essential workers, like the members of UFCW Local 1000, have helped our communities through some of our most challenging times,” said Bean. “I am proud to have their support and to stand with UFCW Local 1000 in our continued fight for Paid Sick Time.”

“UFCW is proud to stand with those who stand with us,” said Ricky Burris, UFCW Local 1000 president.  “From joining us in the fight for Paid Sick Time for all, to advocating for increased support for grocery workers during this pandemic, Lydia Bean is a strong ally of the working people of North Texas, and will bring the voices of essential workers like our members with her to Congress.   We proudly endorse and support Lydia Bean for Texas Congressional district 06.”

This is the first labor endorsement of the TX-06 Special Election.

Lydia Bean is a new mother, small business owner, and community leader who has worked across partisan lines and brought people together to make real change. As the daughter of a teacher and a pastor, Lydia’s parents taught her to stand up for what she believes in. Lydia put that lesson to work when she founded Faith in Texas, a nonprofit organization that brings faith communities together to work toward change in their schools, cities, and state.
